We took the ferry along the Bainbridge Spartans Varsity Soccer team and we had the opportunity to co-record an interview of coach Mark Grindrod by our radio journalist friend and soccer specialist Thomas Smeeth (6 min). Thank you Thomas.

We wish we could post more recordings about sports.

Fred Moody at Field's end roundtable

"How does an author know what questions to ask in an interview?"

This was the theme chosen by the Field's End Writers' Roundtable (2 min).

The guest speaker was Fred Moody , former managing editor of the Seattle Weekly and author -most recently- of Seattle and the demons of ambition, a love story (27 min).

Fred shared many interesting stories and provided useful advice.

His talk was followed by a questions and answers session (14 min).

Our recording of this part is not exhaustive due to a problem with the recorder but we were able to fix it and capture a very interesting comment about the important role of silence (4 min).

About the Community Forestry Commission

Interview with John van den Meerendonk , member of the Community Forestry Commission after the monthly meeting of the CFC (16 min).

Since the meeting usually lasts 2 hours and many people would not listen to the whole recording, one member of the group will participate in an interview with Voice of Bainbridge and present the main topics of the meeting.

This was the first interview of this kind. Noxious weeds, aerial photography for an inventory, public meeting on November 8 were on the agenda.

While you were watching the presidential debate the City Council was hearing public comments about certain elements of the revised comprehensive plan.Here are recordings of a few of those comments:

Winslow Neighbors

Winslow Neighbors had a first meeting at the Commons.

Here are recordings of the presentation by Bob Conoley (19 min) and Bob Conoley bis (23 min).

The sound of the first recording is a little low while for the second part the mike was on the podium (watch for paper shuffling noises!).

The new trail at the Close property

Opening ceremony, for a new trail in the Close property connecting Gazzam Lake preserve to the waterfront (15 min).
The successive speakers are Sallie Maron of the Land Trust, Christine Rolfes (City Council), Andy Maron (Open Space Commission), Frank Stowell (Land Trust).
It is a nice trail, a little steep at the end.
Count 40 minutes roundtrip.

Religion and Public Life in the Pacific Northwest

Patricia O'Connell Killen is Chair of the Department of Religion at Pacific Lutheran University. She edited the book "Religion and Public Life in the Pacific Northwest" she presented Thursday evening at Eagle Harbor Bookstore with coauthor and Bainbridge resident James Wellman (Professor at UW).
They had to compete with THE debate but still had an attentive audience.
Why are the evangelical entrepreneurial churches growing so fast?
What political impact -if any- do they have?
Why do so many people in our region (compared with others in the US) decline any religious affiliation?
